The health of our nation, and our companies, is at risk. Join us for our next DFW HR Roundtable to learn how to be part of the cure. Rex Gale, a principal in the Dallas office of Buck Consultants, will speak on the topic of “Healthcare Cost: The Power of Prevention on Corporate Profits.” Mr. Gale is the former vice president of corporate human resources at RadioShack Corp., and has consulting experience in diverse industries including retail, consumer products, technology, and telecommunications. With more than 25 years of both corporate and consulting human resources experience, Mr. Gale is an expert on how progressive companies are improving employee health through a focus on prevention.

Consider these alarming facts:

  • National healthcare expenditures total $2.4 billion, or 17.6 percent of gross domestic product.
  • 70 percent of these healthcare costs are avoidable or preventable.
  • During the past 20 years, healthcare costs have been three times the overall rate of inflation.
  • Employer costs have risen 7 percent annually over the past 10 years, a rate that is not acceptable or sustainable.

Mr. Gale will present research on the power of prevention; the natural flow of health risk; the impact of health on employee absence, performance, and productivity; and how small changes in population health risk can have a huge impact on lowering cost and improving quality of life. Specific strategies and case studies will be presented to demonstrate how a focus on prevention to improve health, lower health risk, and manage chronic conditions will improve corporate profits for years to come.
