A Message from Keith Pearson, President & CEO

On the economic front, things are looking up here in America. The stock market had a volatile year, yet pulled out of the downward slump with a powerful recovery. The job market is bouncing back, unemployment is down, consumer confidence is rising, new homes are under construction, small business owners are optimistic and the GDP is growing. It’s been a slow but steady recovery, and it seems that slow and steady has been winning the race in 2015.

But what about next year? With a huge field of candidates still vying for one major party’s nomination for the presidency, decisions yet to be made by the Fed, and widespread worry about terrorism and global unrest, will we see the lines on key indicator charts continue to tick upward in 2016?

For our December 2015 Spotlight SeriesSM breakfast, we invited Justin Duke, CFA, Senior Wealth Manager for BNY Mellon Wealth Management, to join us as keynote speaker. He led an insightful discussion about the economic trends we’ve witnessed in 2015, and shared some of BNY Mellon’s observations for 2016. Spoiler alert: It’s likely to be another good year. Don’t miss the summary of the discussion in this issue.
